Generate 100 Customers from Toronto
It was very easy to create 100 Customers, but the data didn't really look very realistic. How many people do you know called First Name1 who live in City1? This tutorial shows how to set a constant value for a column that will be used each time the data is generated. We can edit the Insert Data scenario that we created earlier.
- Close all dialogs to return to the TurboData primary window and press the Insert Data tab.
- Double click on the 'Create Customers' scenario to edit it.
- On the right tree, expand the Customer table to show it's columns by pressing the '+' next to it.
- Select the Column 'City', select the Data Source tab and enter 'Toronto' in the Constant Value field.

- Press the Generate push button to open the Generate SQL dialog
- Click on the Update Database option
- Press the Generate push button to Generate the data and automatically load it on to the target database.
- Press the View Data on Target DB push button to open the Edit Data dialog. Select Customer from the Table drop down list, and you will see 100 Customers have been created all from the city of Toronto.
