TurboData v3 Levelset History

Levelset 3.0.42 (December 10, 2002)

  • Teradata DBMS is now supported.
  • MySQL DBMS is now supported.
  • Create table DDL for Jet can be generated automatically.
  • Drop table DDL can be generated automatically.
  • DBMS target connection is now using owner from source connection as the default target owner.
  • Additional method of reading in Oracle tables due to some users having problems.

Levelset 3.0.41 (October 20, 2002)

  • Visual FoxPro DBMS is now supported.
  • Test for user abort by pressing Escape Key during data generation, and when reading in a new database definition.
  • Open generated text files in a foreground window.
  • When reading in a new DB, display each table name in the status bar. This is expecially useful for slow server connections with lots of tables in the database.
  • User can now update the name or the company name that this license is registered to when it has just been activated.
  • Do not allow user to enter invalid characters in TurboData name.
  • On data grid window, do not display the message "If data has been updated, you may need to refresh the data displayed on the grid" if a SELECT SQL statement was executed.
  • Oracle v8.1.7 was reading in duplicate columns where synonyms were being used.
  • When generating a new text file, if the path does not exist, TurboData will prompt with "Path does not exist. Do you want TurboData to create it?"
  • Column and Table Definition reports prompt user for report name before creating it.

Levelset 3.0.40 (August 31, 2002)

  • Data Composer component works as a plug-in for Advantage Gen by Computer Associates.
  • The variable 'True' had the value 'Wahr' on the German operating system and caused the generation of test data to fail in the function to resolve foreign keys.
  • MDraw32P.ocx v 2.5.25 included in the installation script.

Levelset 3.0.39 (June 22, 2002)

  • Out of the box test data generation. When reading in a new database, an insert data scenario is automatically created with all tables selected, with all the foreign keys resolved. A delete data scenario is also automatically created with all tables selected.
  • Set Foreign Keys - New option to automatically resolve any unset foreign keys with selected tables in the scenario.
  • Interface to Turbo Reports, a COBOL report generator by Canam Software.
  • Set Foreign Keys - Improve user friendliness.
  • Edit Scenario - Improve user friendliness.
  • Alternate Data Source - Improve user friendliness.
  • SQL Generation - Store file name and path last used to store generated data. This is saved at the database level.
  • Generate data to text files has the option to suppress the decimal place.
  • Edit data grid - Select all text in SQL text field when it gets focus.
  • Edit data grid - Check the SQL comment has been removed when user runs SQL.
  • Options - Database Owner override, if "From TurboData Schema" is selected, set the override text to spaces.
  • Database 'Other' should not allow text file generation.

Levelset 3.0.38 (March 06, 2002)

  • Generate SQL - "SQL Anywhere" syntax is now supported.
  • Generate Data - Positional text files of test data can now be generated.
  • Edit a Scenario - Enabled multiple selection of tables for dragging from one tree to the other.
  • Enabled Tip of the day feature. (Please download the associated text file to enable this.)
  • Edit database schema - If a columns' datatype is changed to timestamp, set the default incrementation to minutes.
  • Generate Update SQL - Insert a space character between 'set' and <carriage return> to prevent some ODBC drivers reporting a false syntax error message.
  • When a new database had just been read in, and the default option to automatically connect to the database is set to 'False', view data on grid or run an SQL statement with the SQL builder, then generate SQL - the database was not being updated until the database connection was disconnected and reconnected.
  • Generate SQL for date and time columns - Constant overrides to the column must set the date/time format to the correct edit pattern for the target DBMS.
  • Disable certain menu items after cancelling from the New Database dialog.
  • Read in new DB using Microsoft Database Protocol DAO (Data Access Objects) - Added prompts 'Yes to All' and 'No to All' when TurboData cannot automatically determine a column type and needs manual confirmation from the user.

Levelset 3.0.37 (November 16, 2001)

  •   Generate SELECT SQL statements in the correct syntax for the target database.
  •   Generate UPDATE SQL statements in the correct syntax for the target database.
  •   Set Foreign Keys - Deselect a parent table for generation and then try to choose it on the drop down list will now default to choose the first available table in the list.
  •   Set Foreign Keys - If a table is selected that contains no foreign keys, the 'Reset Foreign Key' pushbuttons should be disabled.
  •   Generate Data - If no data is found on an input text file or 'other' database, then give a meaningful error message displaying the table and column name that was overridden.
  •   Edit Database Schema - If a table is deleted that contains a column that is a parent to a foreign key on another table, the foreign key needs to be updated to a data column.
  •   Generate Data - When retrieving data from an alternate data source with the unique option set for that column, stop generating data if the quantity of unique values is less than the quantity of rows to generate.

Levelset 3.0.36 (October 18, 2001)

  •   Edit Data in grid - Do not automatically display all the data from the first table in the list. Prompt user to either enter an SQL statement, or select a table.
  •   Edit Data in grid - Display a message to let user know when an SQL statement has finished processing.
  •   Improved the performance of TurboData when opening an Insert Data scenario for editing. (The scenario is now opened in half the time it used to take.)

  •   Primary Window - Changed the access key on Delete Data tab from D to E.

  •   Set Foreign Keys - If no tables have been selected for generation all controls should be disabled except the Close pushbutton.

  •   Set Foreign Keys - Only show prompts for foreign keys on the diagram if any actually exist on the child table.

  •   Set Foreign Keys - Select a parent already selected by another foreign key. Show system identifier to give visibility of which one has been selected.

  •   Set Foreign Keys - After resetting a foreign key to it's default, do not automatically close the dialog.

  •   Edit a Scenario - Only show the selected node in the tree that currently has focus. Automatically deselect nodes from the tree that loses focus.

  •   Edit Insert Data Scenario - Added the access key E to the Expand pushbutton.

  •   Target Database Connection Details - Immediately after reading a new database schema into TurboData, the target details dialog did not show the details of the last database read in.

  •   Selecting Other Database for an Alternate Data Source - This was closing the target database, which prevented the 'Generate Data' function from updating the target database.

Levelset 3.0.35 (October 3, 2001)

  •   TurboData Light and TurboData Personal editions can now create up to 100 lines of generated data or 10 Insert SQL statements onto an output text file. (TurboData Professional has no limitations.)
  •   New functionality to 'expand' a table. Select a parent table and let TurboData add all the child tables for that parent to the list of tables to generate data for. The foreign keys will automatically be resolved to the initial parent table. Choose the number of levels to expand to by entering the start and end ranges for each desired level. The selected parent table starts at level 1, it's immediate children are level 2, it's grandchildren are level 3, and so on.
  • Greatly improved the layout and user-friendliness of the Set Foreign Key diagram.
  • Set Foreign Key diagram sometimes did not show the arrows between parent and child tables.
  • Improved licensing flexibility and functionality.
  • Options - Select a folder was giving the message "Unexpected error changing drive: Error: 0"

Levelset 3.0.34 (July 20, 2001)

  •   Read New Database - When reading in the details from a new database the mouse pointer should change to an hourglass.
  •   Edit Insert Scenario - Double clicking on an alternate data source occasionally causes the mouse to freeze. Double clicking is no longer supported on the alternate data source node, it must be selected then press the Alternate Data Source push button.
  •   SQL Builder - Save button does not work if you click on the picture on the button.
  •   Read data from Excel spreadsheet - The spreadsheet locks if you read a high volume of data from more than one column.
  •   Generate Data - Dates incrementing sequentially when column range is set to random.
  •   Edit Insert Scenario - Start range with no end range on column gives a division by zero error during code generation.
  •   Set Foreign Keys - "Increment parent after each X Children" line is not needed.
  •   Generate data - Jet and Sybase time and timestamp columns were not incrementing in units of "seconds".
  •   Give user option to connect to target database without having to go back to primary window from the  data generation, view data and SQL Builder dialogs.
  •   Generate Data - If the option is selected to create a text file, the drop down list of target DBMS should be white.
  •   Alternate Data Source dialog - Select a Generic Value, press OK, change selection to text file - leaves Generic Value name in field.
