Generic Value Dependency Maintenance

Figure 0.2 Generic Value Dependency Maintenance

You can assign generic values to be dependent upon other generic values. For example, the city of Toronto is dependent on the province of Ontario and the Country of Canada. If you are generating data for columns Country and City you can use Generic Value Dependency to make sure that only valid city/country combinations are selected.

TurboData comes with a number of example generic values with dependencies set up. All values in the Capital City category are dependent on their appropriate Country, and likewise, all values in the Country category are determinants for their appropriate Capital City. You are encouraged to use these examples as a starting point, and add to them as you see fit.

After assigning the determinant and dependant generic value categories to the determinant and dependant columns you can select the determinant from the Dependency tab on the Alternate Data Source for Generated Data dialog.
